The friendliness of the staff, the charm of the rooms, and the stylishness of the hotel's public spaces--a collection of design books and of 19th century coffee makers. The location, between the Piazza dell'Unita and the Cathedral, was perfect and yet didn't feel touristy.
An elevator would have been nice, but would have been out of place.

There were a kitchen area and coffee in the room, appreciated that. The location was peaceful and strategic, for example, a public square was just a short walk away from the hotel. The area was cozy just next door to the hill on foot, and the center of Trieste.

The beds were very comfortable, the room was spacious, the bathroom was well planned and quite large, there was a full kitchen facility in the room should you wish to cook (with all utensils and dinnerware), the little bar was stocked with good wine and various waters and non-alcoholic drinks) the staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant, the restaurants and sites of Trieste were very close proximity and reallly could be reached with easily and quickly, the location provided easy access to railroad station (I used a taxi that arrived within 2 minutes of being summoned).
There are no minuses. For an inn or bed and breakfast type of hotel this was excelllent.

The Hotel Albero Nascosto is in a beautifully restored building in the old district of Trieste. Just outside the door and up the hill is a complex of narrow old streets lined with fascinating buildings and providing intermittent views of the sea and the mountains. The other way, one is soon in the midst of the city's most interesting cafe and shopping district. Very good restaurants are nearby, where we ate some of the best meals we had in Italy. When one enters the hotel, it is apparent at once that the ground floor has been designed to achieve a fine balance of style and welcoming comfort. The room ("Noce) also had this balance, with beautiful antique furniture, a spacious, well-equipped bathroom, and tidy, totally functional kitchenette. What makes the Hotel outstanding is its fine staff. They truly made us feel as if our happiness and well-being were important to us. There's so much positive to say on this topic, and yet I will end by saying only that breakfast at the Albero Nascosto truly is the most wonderful and important meal of the day. The cappucino is better than any we have had at any hotel, ever!
We were happy with everything.

Had an amazing Christmas break at this boutique hotel! The atmosphere was arty and welcoming, with beautiful paintings and books everywhere. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, giving us a comfortable feeling. The bed was large and the linens were incredibly soft, ensuring a great night's sleep. The hotel also provided a garage just a minute walk away, which was very convenient. The location was perfect, with stunning views over the harbor and being centrally located within the city. We really enjoyed exploring the nearby museums, restaurants, and piazzas, as well as the close proximity to Eataly. The hotel also had basic cooking supplies, like oil, salt, and pepper, which was a nice touch.
While we had an overall fantastic experience, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. the check-in and check-out process took place at a different location, which was about 8 minutes away from the hotel.

The hotel is a recently renovated old house in the center of Trieste with only 10 rooms. We booked a double room and got a mini-apartment. Breakfast was EXCELLENT and the ladies in charge of the hotel were very nice, friendly and helpful. Service in this hotel is really VERY good. You feel welcome. Highly recommended.
Being an old house, it doesn't have a lift (which might be a problem for some people, specially if you are in the 3rd or 4th floor - although it wasn't a pbm for us). Also, as it is in the center of Trieste, it is quite difficult to find a free parking spot. If you go by car, I would recommend you park in the nearby port (paying). On the minus side, I would say that - based on Booked.net's reviews & pictures, and the price - I expected a slightly more upscale hotel (furniture, decoration,...) than the one we found, but this was well compensated by the excellent service received.

A wonderful little hotel right in central Trieste. Only a small proportion of all hotels take pride in making the extra effort to create a special atmosphere for their guests. Hotel Albero Nascosto is one of those few. It is not a large hotel with all the luxary comforts like a spa, bellboys, room-service, etc. However, if you care about aeshtetics and atmosphere, this is the place for you. Care has been taken to restore this beautiful old building and the rooms are furnished with genuinly good taste. The breakfast is in my opinion perfekt. Good quality croissants, toasted bread with cheese/ham/marmelade, yogurt, fruit, juice and good italian coffee any way you want it. It's not a full english but who really needs that? A great library with art/design books will accompany you at the breakfast tables. Trieste is a town that will inspire with it's beauty and grace, and we're thankful this hotel exists to carry on the tradition of arts and aesthetics in this city. We had a wonderful stay!
There is no elevator at Hotel Albero Nascosto, and the stairs are quite narrow and steep. This could be a problem for elderly or disabled persons.
